Sound Art

Sonic Gaga

Sonic Gaga is an instrument and improvisatory framework that musically extends Gaga, a dance language where performers improvise movement based on bodily sensation rather than pre-planned choreography. Functionally, muscle-sensors and software turn the body into an instrument where movement triggers different sounds.

Future iterations would refine the equipment to measure location, speed of movement, including muscle tension. Sonic Gaga empowers the dancer by asking them to prioritize their own auditory sensations. With this approach, dance and music unite into one unified artform.
